Abstract

A 19-year-old female presented with a 4-month history of bilateral, para-central flickering lights, stable over that time after a sudden onset. Examination revealed isolated, bilateral, reproducible and incongruent para-central scotomata. Conventional imaging of the retina and OCT of the macula were not conclusive. Infrared imaging of the fundi showed typical lesions of acute macular neuroretinopathy. The unique physical properties of the near infrared waves recently widened the field of retinal imaging and are of particular interest in the diagnosis of deep retinal layers.
