Linear discriminant analysis in clinical neuropsychology research

Pages 259-272 | Published online: 04 Jan 2008

Abstract

This paper reviews the use of Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) in clinical neuropsychology research. The basic neuropsychological questions addressed by the method, the special problems and requirements for its use, and likely outcomes are described in detail. Recommendations regarding employment of commonly available LDA computer programs are made for the researcher. Careful attention to the assumptions and decisions inherent in LDA programs could enhance its value in clinical research.
