Abstract
The Aphasia Screening Test (AST) has held a position in aphasia testing similar to that held by the Wechsler tests in intelligence testing. Both were first developed around 1940, became the most widely adopted tests of their type, and continue to be used in revised form. The AST would appear to be the most frequently used aphasia test today (Lezak, 1983, p. 320). The new element in the test kit is Reitan's recently prepared 173 page manual, Aphasia and Sensory-Perceptual Deficits in Adults (Reitan, 1984) which describes the background, administration, and interpretation of the Reitan-Indiana Aphasia Screening Test. The kit and manual also present the Reitan-Kl⊘ve Sensory-Perceptual Examination.
