Abstract
This is the child version of Reitan's book on aphasia and sensory perceptual disorders in adults (see review by Graves, this issue). It includes a manual for two tests from the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery (the Reitan-Indiana Aphasia Screening Test and the Reitan-Kl⊘ve Sensory-Perceptual Examination), and provides versions of the two tests for children aged 5-8 years and 9-14 years. In addition, the author has “attempted to provide an overview of current approaches to the areas of developmental aphasia and learning disabilities and to provide a critical evaluation of their relationships to impaired brain functions (p. v).” Finally, 20 case studies are presented to illustrate interpretations of performance on the two tests by children with learning problems, developmental dyslexia, developmental dysphasia, and brain damage.
