Contribution à l'étude des propriétés thermo- et photopériodiques du développement dans le genre Bromus (Graminées) en relation avec quelques faits de répartition géographique

Résumé

43 populations relevant de 20 taxons de rang spécifique du genre Bromus ont été testées au plan thermo-photopériodique. Dans tous les cas, l'absence de froid n'entrave pas le développement, mais pour 18 taxons, l'action du froid accélère significativement ce développement; toutes les populations éprouvées accomplissent, plus ou moins rapidement, leur développement en photopériode quotidienne de 10 h (dans les conditions semi-phytotroniques adoptées). Au total, les espèces étudiées, quelles que soient leurs origines, révèlent une assez grande souplesse de comportement.

Summary

In the light of present experimentation, involving 43 Brome populations, which include 20 specific and 2 subspecific-rank taxa, the evidence is that grasses of the genus Bromus L. can complete their development without any preliminary exposure to cold. A brief daily photoperiod (10 hours) is sufficient in the more or less long term.

On the other hand, seed vernalization and a long daily photoperiod usually have a marked accelerating impact on flowering processes.

A few Mediterranean or Atlantic-Mediterranean Bromes, however, show only indifferent reactions to cold and a limited number of extreme reactions to the daily photoperiod (ambiphotoperiodism).

With the majority of the Bromes tested so far, the flowering process is improved by a long-day.
