Pages 75-101 | Published online: 26 Jun 2007

Abstract

One aspect of the courts' rules for assuring lack of bias in its decision-making --rules for judges' recusing (withdrawing) from cases-- is examined in this article. The bases for recusal, the procedures for seeking recusal, and the recent Liljeberg and Liteky rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court on the subject are discussed.
