Abstract

A leaching process for extraction of copper from copper bearing ore results in an iron rich residue. Acidification of this residue with sulfuric acid yields a fertilizer product containing 16 ‐ 20% Fe. This product has been shown to be effective in correcting iron chlorosis. With respect to row crops, placement close to the germinating seed is more effective than broadcast treatments. Broadcast treatments have been shown to be highly effective for correcting iron chlorosis of turf. Some residual effects have been observed. The highly acidic nature of the product is believed to contribute strongly to its effectiveness.
