Abstract
Microelement problems are of increasing importance in Egypt not only on calcareous soils in the newly reclaimed areas but also on alluvial soils in the Nile delta as a result of high microelement export by several crops per year and lacking supply from the Nile flood cut off by the high dam. In the course of a German‐Egyptian project, a great number of soil and plant analytical data have been collected with respect to this problem. By several foliar applications of microelements per year, especially to fruit trees, iron chlorosis disappeared, microelement concentration in the leaves increased strongly, and yields improved in places by about 20–30%.
