Abstract
Sap expressed under pressure from the shoots of alfalfa (Medi‐aago sativa L. cv" Ranger) contained higher Fe concentrations when the alfalfa had been grown at high K than at low K concentrations. When K was high, Ca and Mg were low. In lime‐induced iron chlorosis, leaves generally have increased K and decreased Ca concentrations; so it was suggested that when under Fe stress, some plants may use this as a mechanism to increase the efficiency of Fe in plants.
