Abstract
To overcome perceived weaknesses in the traditional DRIS approach to tissue nutrient analysis interpretation, 3 revisions and 2 new methods are proposed. A logarithmic transformation, use of population parameters, and use of a single calculation method remove systematic errors, simplify the diagnostic method, and extend its applicability. Two new methods use individual nutrient concentrations, rather than ratios. The changes produce diagnoses similar to those by DRIS or the Sufficiency Range approach, but result in better recommendations, judging from a yield response test.
