Abstract

Field experiments were conducted during 1984 and 1985 at the Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (India). The objective was to investigate the response of rice to phosphorus, zinc and iron through triple superphosphate, zinc sulphate and iron sulphate respectively as basal application on alluvial soils showed significant increases in rice yields up to 10 ppm phosphorus application. However, significant response to zinc and iron applications on yield was observed only up to 5 ppm. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and iron uptake improved significantly due to application of 10 ppm P, 5ppm Zn and 5 ppm Fe.
