Abstract
A laboratory study on the absorption of ozone in aqueous solutions of malathion has been conducted, using a semicontinuous tank reactor. Liquid mass transfer coefficients, specific interfacial areas and the stoichiometric ratio between ozone and malathion were determined previously. Applying the film mass transfer theory to the experimental data, orders of reaction and kinetic rate constants as a function of temperature and pH have been deduced. The results confirm that the process takes place in the slow reaction regime.
