A community program for treatment of a psychiatric patient in the kibbutz: A process of empowerment

Abstract

This paper reports an intervention program for a chronic psychiatric patient living in a kibbutz. It describes a psychotic episode that was treated without hospitalization. The intervention program was based on a combined community psychiatry and systems therapy approach and was community oriented. The implications of the intervention are discussed, focusing on the community level.
