ABSTRACT

The pH sensitivity of a hydrocarbon/fluorocarbon catanionic surfactant is investigated. The catanionic surfactant is sensitive to low pH, which results in the precipitation of an acid/soap complex. This complex is identified by IR, NMR and confirmed by x-ray crystallography.
