Abstract

Nanostructured materials of nickel titanate, NiTiO3, have been prepared by the calcinations of the produced precipitation of Ni(OH)2 and titanium dioxide TiO2 powder (P‐25) in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelle solutions. These nanoparticles were investigated with transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive X‐ray analysis (EDX) to determine the crystallite size and the phase composition. Spectroscopic characterization of these nanoparticles was also done with UV‐vis and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy. XRD patterns showed that NiTiO3 phase was formed at calcination temperature above 700°C. The UV‐vis results showed that the nanoparticles NiTiO3 have a significant absorption band shift to the visible region. The new absorption peak of 460 cm−1 at the lower frequency region of FT‐IR spectroscopy also indicated the Ti‐O‐Ni bond formation.
