Abstract

In this article, hydrophobic FePt@Au nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in Quaternary water in oil (W/O) reverse micelle consisting of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), n-butanol, n-heptane and water by aqueous sodium borohydride (NaBH4) and hydrazine hydrate (N2H4·H2O) as reductant on surface of the seed FePt NPs. The NPs are characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX) measurement. The results indicated that both seed FePt and FePt@Au core-shell NPs have different composition and character, especially aging FePt@Au core-shell NPs at high temperature displayed the coercivity by superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) at room temperature. The forming mechanism of NPs also was reported.
