Abstract

The micellization of cetyldiethylethanolammonium bromide has been studied in binary aqueous mixtures of dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethyl formamide, acetonitrile, methanol and tetrahydrofuran at 298–320 K using conductometric technique. Thermodynamics of micellization, i.e., Gibbs free energy (), enthalpy (), and entropy (), have been obtained from temperature dependence of critical micelle concentration (CMC). The CMC and degree of counterion ionization (α), values increases with increase in temperature and volume percentage of the aqueous-organic solvent mixtures.
