O/W Microemulsions

ABSTRACT

The stability regions for O/W microemulsions in the system water pentanol, sodium dodecyl sulphate and different hydrocarbons were determined by titration and long term storage in thermostated conditions.

The microemulsion regions were highly dependent on the nature of the hydrocarbon and pronounced kinetic stability was encountered. The results formed a basis for simple rules to prepare O/W microemulsions with optimal stability.
