ABSTRACT
In the first part, we study the precipitation equilibrium of two well known surfactants (Na-lauryl sulfate and dodecyl type LAS) with calcium ion, by means of developing the sulfonate precipitation boundary diagrams. Certain pH and temperature conditions have been selected.
In the second part, the builder factor in these equilibria was included and a practical equation was developed. This equation allows us to know the rainimuiti builder concentration to avoid the precipitation of calcium salts inside the washing vessel using any builder. Theoretical and experimental data have been compared.
