ABSTRACT

In previous papers(-6), the authors proposed equations for the calculation of time - dependent and shear-dependent viscosities of concentrated suspensions and were successful in the calculations of non-Newtonian flow curves and the hysteresis loops based on the Newton's Law of Viscosity.

After finding the relationship between the interfacial parameters and non-Newtonian viscosities, the calculation of interfacial parameters from the measured viscosities became possible. The method and the results of calculations of Hamaker's attraction constant which appears in the coagulation rate theory established by Verwey and Overbeek7) are reported in this paper.
