Abstract

The problems of queueing and analogous dams or storage systems have been of great interest to mathematicians and engineers. Substantial work has been done on stochastic process relating to queueing systems. However, for most of the mathematical models of queueing theory, the results have been obtained so far, in case of a Markovian arrival or an Exponential service procedure. The queueing elements (i.e., both the inter-arrival and service time distributions) are therefore, analytical in nature. The characteristic function of the outputs so obtained thus leads to an analytical solution of the problem complex.
