A LINGUISTIC VARIABLE FOR IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY SETS

Pages 249-260 | Received 01 Jun 1979, Published online: 30 Mar 2007

Abstract

In this paper we introduce the concept of a linguistic variable for importance. This is done by defining its linguistic values as fuzzy subsets over the set of nonnegative numbers. Furthermore, we show how to modify a fuzzy subset by its importance. That is, if A is a fuzzy subset of X, and / is its importance, then A becomes AI which is also a fuzzy subset of X.
