Abstract
Self-referential systems of the type developed by the author and called Objects, are shown to be able to observe other Objects and to compute relationships between such observations. The complexity of interaction is related to increases in the ability of such Objects to image the “real world, ” to communicate. In this respect, it is shown that the increase of complexity reflects an increase in level of consciousness.
