Experimental Approach to the Manufacture of Chipped and Ground Stone Artifacts from the Túnel Site, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

Pages 102-108 | Published online: 01 Apr 2016

Abstract

This paper reports the results of an experimental study of the manufacturing sequence of a set of unusual artifacts recovered from the Túnel site in the National Territory of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Based on the results of the experiment, a model of manufacture is offered that duplicates the abraded features observed on the archaeological specimens. The experiment also provides some insight into the manufacturing time required to produce the artifacts.
