Abstract
The “discovery” and description of the distinctive biface notching flakes as reported by Austin (1986) are questioned m this paper. Previous descriptions of this flake type are discussed, two reports noting the archaeological occurrences of biface notching flakes are reviewed, and comments are provided on Austin's notching flake size and morphology descriptions.
