Factores económico-financieros que inciden en la eficiencia temporal de las empresas del sector turístico español

RESUMEN

En el presente trabajo se analiza la relación de la estructura económico-financiera con la eficiencia de las mayores empresas del sector turístico español en el período 1995–1999. Para ello, en primer lugar se estudia, mediante análisis window con metodología DEA, la eficiencia de estas empresas, con el objeto de observar su evolución temporal y definir tres niveles distintos de eficiencia (robusta, variable e inestable). Finalmente, mediante modelos de regresión de datos de panel se determinan aquellas variables económico-financieras estadísticamente significativas en la eficiencia de las empresas, siendo esta información de utilidad en la toma de decisiones de los directivos que persiguen el comportamiento eficiente en las empresas del sector turístico.

ABSTRACT

This work studies the relationship between the financial-economic structure and the efficiency of the Spanish tourist sector, for the period from 1995–1999. In the first place by means of a window analysis with DEA methodology, the efficiency of these firms is studied, with the objective of observing their seasonal development and defining three types of different levels of efficiency (robust, variable e unstable). Finally by means of regression models of panel data those economic-financial variables are determined which have a statistically significant influence on the efficiency of the companies of the tourist sector. It being the case that this information is of use in management decision making who are looking for efficient behaviour in their tourist businesses.
