ABSTRACT

The goal of this paper is the evaluation of the results of the mutual funds investing in Spanish stock markets versus their usual benchmark, Ibex-35, for a period of time of 78 months, since 1996 to June of 2002. In order to do this, we consider the results before and after the payment of the portfolio management costs by the mutual fund shareholders. Our findings show that these costs are specially relevant in the performance conclusions we obtain.
