Sociobiologia evolutiva: La socialización ¿Proyecto inútil?

RESUMEN

Una de las principales motivaciones del psicólogo reside en su confianza en la perfeccionalidad humana, en la posibilidad de cambio y mejora. La Sociobiología, ciencia interesada en el estudio de las bases biológicas de la conducta social tanto animal como humana, cuestiona esa posibilidad de cambio y justifica un interesado inmovilismo social, según sostiene el autor. En el presente artículo se esboza la elaboración teórica sobre la naturaleza humana desde la perspectiva de la Sociobiología, basada en la concepción del organismo -animal y humano- como un “sistema que tiene el DNA para fabricar más DNA”, según expresión de Edward Wilson. El artículo recoge las críticas que ha recibido la Sociobiología y especula con las consecuencias sociales de asumir sus postulados sobre la naturaleza humana. La Sociobiología ha hecho una identificación del animal con el hombre que merece ser matizada: se debe recordar la naturaleza social y cultural, a la vez que la biológica, del comportamiento humano. Y esto exige superar el determinismo genético.

ABSTRACT

One of the psychologist's first motivations lays in his or her trust in human perfectibility, the possibility of change and improvement. The author understands Sociobiology as a science engaged in the study of the biological foundations of human and animal's social behaviour that questions this possibility of change and justifies a biased social stagnation. This article sketches a theoretic elaboration about human nature from a sociobiological perspective, founded on the conception of human/animal organism as a “system that has DNA to make more DNA”, in Edward Wilson's words. The paper collects the critiques received by Sociobiology and contemplates the social consequences of assuming its postulates about human nature. Sociobiology has identified animal with human in a way that deserves to be made more precise: the social and cultural nature of human behaviour, as well as the biological one, ought to be remembered. Therefore, genetic determinism has to be overcome.
