1. New Curriculum Reform (xinkegai), short of “a new round of curriculum reform for basic education”, has been introduced at the turn of the twenty-first century and implemented gradually across the country during the past decade, so as to redirect the prevalent “exam-oriented education” (yingshijiaoyu) towards an education that is oriented towards “quality”(suzhijiaoyu).
