Minimax inspection strategies for replaceable systems with partial information on lifetime distribution

Pages 479-492 | Published online: 27 Jun 2007

Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of optimal-cost inspection of a system to be completely renewed after detection of a failure. For the case in which the lifetime distribution of the system is unknown but a quantile or the expected lifetime is known, the corresponding minimax inspection strategies are given. Finally, numerical comparisons are made.
