Abstract
The aim of this paper is to discuss a general axiomatic approach to the measurement of location and dispersion of univariate distributions, and stochastic dependence of bivariate AMS 1980 subject classifications; 80H20, 62E10. distributions. Each of these aspects is characterized by a suitable relational structure, parameters are meant as homomorphisms satisfying certain invariance conditions.
