David Harrison

DAVID HARRISON is Professor (Tourism, Culture and Development), at the University of North London. Having taught Sociology at the University of Sussex for many years, he moved to coordinate the Tourism Studies Programme at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. He has researched tourism's impacts in the Caribbean, southern Africa, Bulgaria and the Pacific. Author of The Sociology of Modernization and Development (1987), editor of Tourism and the Less Developed Countries (1992) and co-editor of Sustainable Tourism in Islands and Small States: Case Studies (1996), he recently edited Tourism and the Less Developed Countries: Issues and Cases (2001) and is currently editing a book on tourism in the South Pacific. e-mail: [email protected]
