H. Detlef Kammeier

H. Detlef Kammeier graduated in architecture and city planning from the Technical University of Munich. He gained city planning experience (research and practice) in Germany and Switzerland prior to working in the developing world. He has lived in Bangkok since 1972, for the first three years as a member of a German team of transport planners and engineers working on the German-funded Bangkok Transportation Study. From 1976 until 2000, Professor Kammeier was a full-time faculty member at the international graduate school of the Asian Institute of Technology, in combination with international urban advisory and regional planning work. Since 2000, he has worked as a freelance consultant and visiting professor, working primarily in developing countries in Asia and the Middle East. Professor Kammeier is currently invited visiting faculty member at Ren Min University, Beijing, and its international summer school (annually since 2014), visiting professor on TU Berlin’s urban management programme, as well as an international advisor in Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and other countries.
