A strange algorithm for selecting a hierarchy structure in AHP model

Abstract

This paper develops an algorithm that determines an appropriate hierarchy structure from several hierarchy structures in AHP model. The procedure is based on the grey relational analysis for grey system, which performs is selection and ranking. The algorithm use sequences to describe hierarchy structure. It then constructs the grey relational matrix and, then, calculates grey relational grades. After doing so, it obtains the optimal hierarchy. Results in this study can be used to select a hierarchy from multiple hierarchical structures for AHP.
