Application of a fuzzy MCDM method to the evaluation of operating systems of smart phones

Abstract

The selection of the operating system (OS) of smart phone has become a very important issue. Many criteria must be considered when evaluating an OS of smart phone. Some criteria are quantitative, some are qualitative. Moreover, diff erent decision maker may have diff erent opinions on the diff erent importance among criteria. Thus a fuzzy MCDM model is needed for the evaluation and selection of the OS's of smart phones. The membership functions of the fi nal fuzzy evaluation values in the model will be derived. The ranking approach of maximizing area and minimizing area is suggested to rank the alternatives. Finally, a hypothetical numerical example demonstrates the computational process of the proposed model.
