Abstract

The dynamic behavior of non‐adiabatic catalytic fixed bed system has been studied. A mathematical model for non‐adiabatic catalytic fixed bed reactors, including all the heat and mass diffusion in the intraparticle as well as the interphase transfer resistance between the catalyst and reactant gas with an additional effect of axial dispersion and radial dispersion, has been developed. A non‐adiabatic reaction process is investigated to study the characteristics of reaction process and the influence of operation parameters upon dynamic behavior. Simulation results show that the influence of the cooling medium temperature and the cooling fluid flow rate are parameter sensitive in dynamic behavior of reaction process; moreover, the heterogeneous models is considered when a larger heat of reaction has been presented.
