Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop an analytical model for predicting the load‐slip relationships of reinforcing bars anchored within exterior beam‐column joints and subjected to repeated pull loading. The model is developed by utilizing the stress‐strain characteristics of reinforcing bars under monotonic and repeated tensile loading, the local bond stress‐slip relations of reinforcing bars subjected to monotonic loading, repeated tensile loading and reversed cyclic loading separately, and the equilibrium of forces and the compatibility of displacements along the anchorage length of the bar. The results predicted by the model are compared with test results to examine its availability.
