ABSTRACT

Our team built models to accurately simulate the heat transfer inside and outside the airship. In this paper, we used the models to analyze the thermal characteristics of large airship at different seasons in five different regions and at different low altitudes using Fluent software. The results show that the seasons, geographical locations, and altitudes produce great effects on the thermal characteristics of airship by affecting the solar irradiation on the envelope surface, convection heat transfer, atmospheric parameters, etc. In order to validate the accuracy of numerical calculation, we built a testing platform and conducted the experiments. The measured data are in good agreement with the numerical results.
