Abstract
This paper describes a useful approach to realize a low-noise millimetre wave frequency synthesizer with 50-kHz resolution. The judicious use of comb generators in the feedback path of the synthesizer circuitry as frequency dividers in the mm wave and X-band range respectively is expected to result in the simple synthesizer design using commercially available components. The low-noise and automatic avoidance of false lock properties of the synthesizer increases its usefulness for numerous applications in the area of communication and instrumentation.
