Mobile Location Tracking Techniques: Analysis and Evaluation

Abstract

Information about the location of a mobile station (MS) can be very useful in providing critical services required during rescuing operations. It can be useful in providing navigational services. Additionally it can help in tackling issues like co-channel interference and limitations of frequency spectrum. This paper analyses and evaluates mobile location tracking techniques in terms of accuracy, cost and processing load.

Yogesh Suman

Yogesh Suman is working as Scientist in National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS) which is a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He obtained his bachelor degree in computer engineering from Delhi Institute of Technology, University of Delhi in 1992 and at present pursuing MTech degree in IT from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University at Delhi, Before joining NISTADS he worked as scientist at CSIR Complex Palampur in Himachal Pradesh and as Systems Analyst at National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration (NIEPA) in Delhi. His research interest includes various technical and policy issues related to growth of software and IT industry in India. So far he has published nine research papers in various research journals of repute and in the conference proceedings. He is associate member of IETE.

Navin Rajpal

Navin Rajpal is a Reader with the School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. He received his BSc Engineering Degree in Electronics & Communication from Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra in 1987, MTech & PhD degree from Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT, Delhi in 1991 and 1999 respectively. Prior to joining this University, he was Assistant Professor in Dept of Computer Science& Engineering, CR State College of Engineering, Murthal, Sonepat (1996–2000) and Senior Scientific Officer in Center for Applied Research in Electronics IIT, Delhi (5987–1995). He has published 25 research papers in Conferences, Proceedings and Journals. He has worked on 7 sponsored and 2 consultancy projects as co-investigator at IIT, Delhi. He has supervised 9 MTech Thesis, published 13 technical reports, released 3 software's for copyright at IIT, Delhi. His teaching and research interest include Computer Vision, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Artificial Neural Network, Algorithms, Digital Hardware Design, Computer Graphics and Advanced Computer Architecture.
