A Preliminary bibliographical survey of advanced research on prose in Southern African vernaculars and the road ahead

Abstract

The aim of this article is to bring to light fields of prose investigation which are not yet explored in the Southern African literatures. It is divided into six sections. Section A looks into studies of individual researchers, while in section B a survey of literary research in the various literatures is brought into focus. Section C examines research which has a bearing on traditional prose literature. Section D looks into works that deal with the essay and the short story. Section E is a brief survey of articles written in part fultilment of the requirements for the honours degree. Section F is a bibliography of articles which have been published in various journals, periodicals, departmental bulletins and magazines. This survey does not purport to be complete.

Die doel van hierdie artikel is om lig te werp op gebiede van die prosekuns wat tot dusver nog nie voldoende ondersoek is nie. Daar is ses afdelings. Afdeling A neem studies van individuele navorsers in oënskou, terwyl afdeling B fokus op literêre navorsing in die verskillende letterkundes. In afdeling C word werke bespreek wat betrekking het op tradisionele prosever-tellings. Afdeling D behandel navorsing oor die essay en die kortverhaal. Afdeling E is to beknopte oorsig oor artikels aangebied ter gedeeltelike vervulling van die vereistes vir die honneursgraad. Afdeling F is to bibliografie van artikels wat in die verskillende departementele bulletins en vaktydskrifte verskyn het. Geen aanspraak op volledigheid word egter gemaak nie.
