Abstract
This paper attempts to explore some aspects of naming in Sesotho and Xhosa. It seeks to examine the thesis that the structure of the lexicon as revealed in the names of persons in Sesotho and Xhosa reflects the corresponding structure of the culture of Basotho and amaXhosa respectively.
In hierdie artikel word gepoog om meer lig te werp op sekere aspekte van naamgewing in Sesotho en Xhosa. Daar word besin oor die Stelling dat die struktuur van die leksikon soos blyk uit persoonsname in Sesotho en Xhosa op die ooreenstemmende struktuur van die kultuur van die Basotho en die amaXhosa respektiewelik dui.
