A New Term for “Bantu” in Linguistics Studies

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to indicate to all practising linguists that the term “Bantu” has become completely unacceptable to Blacks, and, secondly, to initiate the quest for a suitable alternative by suggesting a related term. For the term “Bantu”, I am suggesting the alternative “Kintu”.

Die doel van hierdie voordrag is om aan taalkundiges te illustreer dat die term “Bantoe” tans heeltemal onaanvaarbaar vir Swartes is, en om die soeke na 'n geskikte alternatief te inisieer deur ta verwante term voor te hou. As alternatief vir die term “Bantoe” stel ek “Kintoe” voor.
