A Swati comparative list

Pages 372-383 | Received 01 Apr 1990, Published online: 24 Oct 2012

Abstract

An attempt is made to give a fairly comprehensive list of Swati forms which are, or in some cases, may be, cognate with the starred forms as are listed in Guthrie. The Swati forms are all tone marked and they are arranged in tonal classes according to the syllabic structure of the words concerned. This is to make it easier for anyone doing tonal research in this area. All the starred forms are, however, numbered as in Guthrie.
