Creating conditions for peaceful coexistence in South Africa

Abstract

South Africa finds itself in a period of unprecedented reform aimed at the elimination of unnecessary statutory discrimination and the creation of political and economic structures for peaceful co‐existence among the various racial groups in the country. In this article the basic philosophy of the government concerning the nature and directions of change is spelled out and at the same time an explanation is given of the most important strategies the government are following in order to improve human rights among the peoples of South Africa.
