ABSTRACT

This article looks at certain important methodological aspects of cross‐cultural survey research of a political nature. Attention is given to the comparative dimensions of cross‐cultural research as well as to the emic‐etic distinction. Examples of problems that occur specifically with the construction of measuring instruments in a cross‐cultural context are also included The article concludes with a few comments on the importance of methodological reporting.
