Cross‐cultural research in South Africa: a discussion of some political, ethical and methodological problems

Abstract

This article shows that cross‐cultural research shares the political and methodological problems of comparative research in the social sciences. It also examines the subtle differences that exist between these two forms of research. Other aspects the article touches on are: the nature of political and ethical problems to be expected when conducting cross‐cultural research and, some methodological problems usually accompanying such research.
