The transitional period in Zimbabwe: the constitution and minority rights

ABSTRACT

The minority to be protected in Zimbabwe was the white population. Protections afforded this group in the founding constitution in some ways hindered affirmative action by the government. The initial period of protection has passed. Recent developments are examined and the conclusion is that there are not many lessons from the Zimbabwean example for South Africa.
