Abstract
This article proposes an analytical framework for the study of the path and boundaries of privatisation: the privatisation cube. By adopting a typological approach which focuses on three major functional areas: management, governance, and ownership, eight generic types of privatisation are identified The privatisation cube is constructed by using these eight generic types as corners and can serve as an evaluation tool for privatisation proposals. Research and policy implications of the privatisation cube are discussed.
