Pages 243-246 | Published online: 28 Jul 2006

Abstract

The role of the deputy headteacher is becoming increasingly complex and demanding. This study surveyed all the deputy headteachers in North Kent to ascertain how much non‐contact time they were allocated during the normal school day to carry out their increased managerial responsibilities. It concludes that at present the amount of non‐contact time they receive is totally inadequate.
